Governors’ Cup

Our annual men’s tournament was inaugurated in 1959 in recognition of the efforts and contributions of all Governors since the founding of the Club.

In the spirit of the 1956 Amateur Championship held at Knollwood Club, the Championship Flight is made up of outstanding amateur players from the region. The member – guest field competes in a four-ball match play format, generally made up of club members and guests from fine clubs around the country.

The three-day event includes a Men’s Stag Night and concludes with a gala Awards Ceremony and Reception following the final round.

The Alison Cup

Originally begun as the Knollwood Invitational, The Alison Cup is a fall member-guest event played in honor of Charles Hugh Alison, the Club’s primary architect, from the design firm of Colt & Alison.

The format is three different styles of play (Better Ball, Scramble, Alternate Shot) over twenty-seven holes. Teams are made up of partners with one member and one guest.
